IDEXX / Vet Med Labor - DE
Location
Leipzig, DE
Damvent Ltd. delivered a max.e2-03 TOP air handling solution to the IDEXX / Vet Med Laboratory in Leipzig, Germany. Damvent Benelux has recently accepted the Service and Maintenance for this unit on a yearly basis.
INTRODUTCION:
The IDEXX laboratory in Leipzig, formally known as Vet Med Labor GmbH, is a major reference laboratory for veterinary diagnostics in Germany. It has been operational since October 2012 and employs over 50 specialists across its pre-analytics, analytics, and histology departments.
PROJECT OVERVIEW:
The max.e2-03 TOP unit was installed in 2023 at this location due to limited space and supplies fresh air to Vet Med’s Histology department. Within such a high-throughput and quality-sensitive environment, the role of properly treated air is not ancillary—it is foundational to operational integrity. The facility’s specialized testing portfolio—including proprietary assays such as SDMA and Cystatin B for kidney health, as well as Fecal Dx antigen testing—further emphasizes the need for environmental consistency. These assays rely on highly sensitive biochemical and immunological processes that can be adversely affected by fluctuations in air quality, temperature, or humidity.
TECHNICAL CHALLENGE:
The end-user needed access to the AHU directly so communication could be provided to their local service provider (i.e., error notifications, remote diagnostics, analysis, etc.).
SOLUTION:
Damvent Benelux, with assistance from headquarters in Bulgaria, was able to update the software, reset the parameters, and install a communication hub via IXON that allows shared data.
KEY BENEFITS:
* Secure Remote Access & Monitoring: IXON provides a secure VPN connection with built-in firewalls, separating the AHU's control network from the customer's corporate network. It is certified to global security standards like IEC 62443-4-2.
* Reduced Downtime & Service Costs: Technicians can remotely troubleshoot, debug, and update PLCs or HMIs, significantly cutting travel time and costs for on-site support.
* Real-time Data & Alarms: The router logs machine data via protocols like Modbus TCP and BACnet, allowing users to create dashboards in the IXON Cloud to monitor temperature, fan speed, and filter status, plus receive immediate notifications about alarms.
* High Compatibility: The IXrouter supports all major PLC/HMI brands commonly used in AHU controllers.
* Simple Setup (Plug & Play): The router is easy to configure and deploy, often connecting automatically to the cloud after plugging in a USB configuration stick, making it efficient to install on new or existing units.
CONCLUSION:
With this project, DamVent demonstrates its capability to deliver innovative and reliable HVAC solutions tailored to the demanding requirements of diagnostic lab environments. The implementation in Leipzig proves that good communication between supplier and end users is key to providing correct solutions that meet - and exceed – variable requirements.
